Program
Strategy
Partner with local Catholic churches and other non-profit organizations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, whose mission is in concert with ours. Lambadina Foundation will provide access to funding, training, outcomes, measurements, and supplies. The partner(s) will identify the beneficiaries and run the operation/program. Even though this is a new grassroots effort, we are still researching and studying different organizations in Ethiopia that have the same or similar vision.
Expected Outcomes
Within 12 months of starting the program, 80% of the beneficiary women will be living independently with a job, a safe place to live, and a place for their children to stay during the day.
All women will have a safe haven and be trained to become fully self-sufficient. In a few years, the program will be managed, and the facility will provide for any Eritrean victims to receive any help they need. It is our hope to graduate the current 20 chosen women, and then take in more and more as time goes on. We might not cure the mass migration completely, but we hope to create a solution. Management and control are key factors. It is our goal to create a solution for women so they will no longer be hurt, raped, or even killed in these difficult times.
Program Description
The local partner selects the women in need, and then provides a list of names to Lambadina Foundation. The list includes pictures of the women and their children, and a detailed program showing the costs and services the local partner will provide to the women. The objective should be to train the women to acquire trades that will enable them to be self-sufficient within a reasonable amount of time.
Plan from local partners should include:
- Facilities needed, including size, types of spaces, location, etc.
- Services provided such as childcare, food, training/skill building, partnerships with potential employers, transportation needs, etc.
- Competitive costs to provide these facilities and services
- Percentage of costs going to support staff and other organizational needs vs. amount going to benefit the women directly
Lambadina Foundation will then study the plan submitted by local partners. Depending on the size of the program and associated costs, Lambadina Foundation will raise funds to sponsor the program partially or in full.
